A PerfectPixel alternative that also tells you what's wrong

PerfectPixel puts your design over the page. PixelMatch puts it over the page and then compares the two for you.

If you build front ends, you know the routine: export the Figma frame, drop it over the live page at 50% opacity, and squint until the spacing looks right. PerfectPixel has done that job well for years and is free, which is why 300,000 people use it.

PixelMatch starts from the same idea and asks what else that setup can do once the comparison is automatic.

Click "Check match" and it reads the page back to you

Instead of hunting for differences by eye, one click takes a screenshot of the visible tab, compares it with your mockup, and reports a score plus a list of what is off, in plain English:

Each difference is numbered and highlighted on the page itself, so you can see where it is rather than reading coordinates. The comparison runs in your browser — the screenshot is compared and discarded, never uploaded.

Layout grids, with no mockup at all

Half the time you do not have a design to overlay, you just need to know whether things line up. PixelMatch draws column grids on any page — Bootstrap 5, Tailwind, Material or your own — and the built-in ones switch automatically at their real breakpoints. There is a baseline grid for vertical rhythm and a square grid for 4pt/8pt spacing. Press Alt+G on any page to toggle it.

In fairness to PerfectPixel: it is free, it has no paid tier at all, and it has been stable for a decade with a far larger user base than ours. If all you want is an overlay with an opacity slider, it does that job and you do not need to switch. PixelMatch is for when you want the browser to find the differences instead of you.

What it costs

The overlay, Difference mode, layout grids and the side panel are free, with no account and no sign-in. Pro adds the match score, Figma import, Multiply and Screen blend modes, up to 24 saved mockups, and custom responsive grids — $9/month or $59 once.

Nothing leaves your browser

No account, no analytics, no tracking. Your mockups, settings and match results stay in your browser's own storage. The only outside services the extension ever contacts are Lemon Squeezy, if you enter a licence key, and Figma, if you import a frame. See the privacy policy.
